Check out the work of Jason McKee
You can’t be everywhere at once, which is no excuse when you try to write about film. But on Tuesday night at CenterStage the regular slate of local filmmakers’ work included this little short by Jason McKee . It’s titled “The Anniversary Gift.”
You might want to check it out. For someone working on a Happy Meal budget, McKee has come up with a pretty good effort. It uses music well, the do well with what little they’re given to do, the editing and pacing are just what the story needs and irony, not always easy to pull off, is the conceit around which the thin plot is based.
I wish there had been one more twist to the story, something that underscored the irony or extended its scope. But that’s niggling. Spend any time at all on YouTube or Google Video or any of the Web film sites and you’ll see just how good “The Anniversary Gift” is.
