Huckleberries: Nailing down the case of the troublesome treehouse
Chip Foskett of the Hunter’s Glen neighborhood was pretty sore about that Huckleberry last week that painted his Post Falls subdivision as a bit anal when it comes to kids and treehouses. Remember? On July 31, Huckleberries discussed a flap over a treeless treehouse between Foskett’s homeowners association and dweller Dave Nall. Seems a neighbor complained about the treehouse, which was built 7 feet off the ground, and Foskett sez he’s been trying to get Nall to comply with association rules and regs. In a telephone interview, Foskett described Nall as a “sore spot from the beginning” but admitted Nall’d gotten permission from the previous president and vice president to build the treehouse. I won’t go into the particulars of the various complaints Foskett had against Nall. But I will say that I understand the importance of homeowners groups in keeping order in the ‘hood. A coupla my neighbors could use an association demand to clean things up. Mebbe I should hire Foskett? If everyone was allowed to do what he wanted, sez Foskett, 60, “soon we’d look like Pinevilla with boats, trailers and crap all over the yards.” However, I don’t agree with Foskett’s description of the treehouse as being too large or unsightly. Nall built a nice treehouse, with siding to match his home and all, according to photos sent to me Monday by grandma D.J. Nall of Hauser. At one point Monday, Foskett said he was resigned to allowing Nall to keep his treehouse, if it conformed to other dwellings. It now seems to. Case closed?
