Go, team!

The prospect of the Spokane Shock advancing to the ArenaCup (the Super Bowl of minor-league arena football) no doubt has area sports fans excited. But for editor Steve Smith, the game, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, raises a more pragmatic concern:

“Oh God, there goes the budget.”

Speaking of transparency

7 editor Nancy Malone wondered why the Glass on the Green event featured Saturday was moved from Arbor Crest winery. Features editor Pia Hansen said she was fairly certain it was because you have to be over 21 to enter the winery. “I don’t think it’s that controversial,” Hansen said. “I think they figured they’d be better off at a park.”

Dressing down

Smith was somehow under the impression that Doug Clark’s venture as Dr. Kim Thorburn’s personal shopper was under the $100 he was allocated. No one seemed eager to break the news that Clark actually managed to spend more than $150 (how he could spend that much was a mystery to this thrift store regular, but then again, I’ve never had the occasion to buy a ballgown).

One thing seems certain, though - this will probably be the last time we see any comments about Thorburn’s wardrobe on her evaluation forms .
