Steve Remington (BBB) — “I just don’t understand how a person could listen to Bush last night and get angry at the man. I just can’t see it no matter how hard I try. For a person who voted for Clinton the first time around and was once a Liberal I should know what angers Liberals. Bush is a guy who I would love to have a beer with and shoot the breeze. There is no just no hatred that thick that I could invent, even with my over-active imagination.”

DFO: Last night, someone in the comments section asked something to the effect: “Do people really like this guy (Bush)?” The answer? Unequivocably yes. Despite all the anger and loathing expressed here by valuable commenters (you know who you are), I believe Bush is a decent man who has been handed one of history’s great piles of horse manure to sift through. Also, I don’t buy the notion that he’s dumb — unless applied with the descriptive phrase “as a fox.” History will treat him kindly. Mebbe hatred for Dubya is part of the fall-out from the controversy surrounding his first election — and a spill-over from the hatred mah people felt toward Clinton. Mebbe part of it is a frustration that our guy isn’t in power. If Kerry or Gore had won over the last 8 years, I wonder if they’d be held in the same contempt by conservative/liberals as Bush is by liberals? (Now, Bob, GreenL, Toadman, et al, be gentle; you know that I’m fragile after suffering friendly fire yesterday.)
