Yeah, I got your Oscar nominations
If you, like some people, aren’t happy with the 2006 Oscar nominations, then read this online commentary. It may make you feel better. Or at least less alone.
One word from this corner: One of the most overrated films of 2005 was one of the very films that the writer champions, “A History of Violence.” Talk about a film that threw violence in our face and then tried to be artsy about it.
Give me Tarantino any day . He, at least, provides subtext. “Hey,” he says. “Look at all this violence. Ain’t it something?” For all the criticisms I can throw his way, at least Tarantino has the honesty to revel in the carnage .
