It’s not a job, it’s a new reality show

Dan

Oh, by the way, have you seen those new promo spots for the U.S. Border Patrol (more properly known as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol )? The ones that have these men and women, riding horses, driving SUVs and flying helicopters across what looks like the Southwest, all to music and a voiceover that sounds like a Navy recruitment ad?

The first time my wife and I saw it we thought for sure that our television set was tuned to Comedy Central , it looked that ridiculously overproduced. The second time we looked a little closer. No, it wasn’t a promo for a new “Reno 911” -type comedy show. It was a real ad.

Thing is, is should be on Comedy Central. It’s the funniest television moment since Tom (“Obviously, I think there’s been some political belittling of duct tape”) Ridge tried to sell us on the idea that duct tape would actually help us win the war on terrorism.
