Pin-up boy just might make mama proud

Dan

Paul Walker is a pretty boy, no argument. But even pretty boys can surprise us once in a while with their abilities to inhabit a character. If the trailer for the film “Running Scared,” which opens tomorrow, is any indication, Walker may soon be making films for Quentin Tarantino .

Remember him? He’s the guy who’s used the likes of Robert Forster, Rosanna Arquette , Eric Stoltz, Pam Grier and John Travolta … all people who do well in specific roles but who have performed in films that suck as well.

Remember Grier in “Black Mama, White Mama” ? Forster in “The Kinky Coaches and the Pom Pom Pussycats” ? Arquette in “Amazon Women on the Moon” ? Stoltz in, well, anything. Travolta in … let’s not go there.

So maybe there is hope for Walker. Abs like that shouldn’t be wasted.

Below: Paul Walker, showing the physical attributes that won him a role in the diver movie “Into the Blue,” may not have proven that he can act. But then we haven’t yet seen his new film, “Running Scared.”
