Steve Smith said he fielded three complaints about our stories on the gay-cowboy love story “Brokeback Mountain,” including one cancellation threat. Smith said he looked back and found that our coverage was roughly similar to that of “King Kong,” which, presumably, the readers didn’t have an issue with and, for the record, is about a woman who falls in love with a gorilla.
A hit and a miss
Voices editor Richard Miller praised Karen Dorn Steele’s inclusion of historical context in her coverage of the Martin Luther King Jr. remembrance march today - hopefully not overshadowed by the misidentification of the speaker in the second paragraph - it was Bill Maxey, not Bevan.
