Question of the Day — 1/27/06
Issue: More limits on smokers possible: State air board declares secondhand smoke a toxic air contaminant /LA Times
DFO: I have been amazed at how much effort is put into banning smoking, which can kill in a secondhand manner over an extreme period of time; yet, no one seems to be very serious about drunkenness. In Washington, habitual drunk drivers are treated like catch-and-release fish. They pose far more of a risk to my family than the cowering smoker at the entrance to a public building.
Question: Why are we so tough with tobacco but look the other way re: alcohol?
