JimmMAC: CDA Resort’s Worth $40M
JimmyMAC: Just found Duane’s tax assessment on the Resort online. Right around $40 MIL.
DFO: Funny thing about The Duane’s property. If memory serves me correctly, he was bragging through his paper when the resort first opened that it cost him $60M (or something close to that). When the office of the late assessor Tom Moore tried to charge him somewhere near that, he bellyached something awful and said it was worth around $32M. Ditto for the resort golf course. He again bragged through his newspaper about how much money he socked into the thing, to remove the old Rutledge mill and plant the bent grass, etc. When Moore tried to assess the property at $12M or so, Hagadone hit the roof. He thought it should be valued at a fourth of that and appealed. At first, the cowering commissioners at the time wanted to side with Hagadone buying his argument, as then commish Bob Haakenson said infamously that the course’s location on the lake shouldn’t affect its value. I still haven’t quit laughing about that. Bottom line? Everything Duane owns is value and brag-worthy — until the assessor comes calling.
