Statement from West’s family…

Jeff West, Jim West’s nephew, provided this statement from the family:

The world and the city of Spokane have just lost a great man. Many people have told us he was the best Spokane mayor ever. He dedicated his life to community service and positively impacted countless lives directly in public office and through various organizations. We knew Jim best as a son, brother, and uncle. We loved him very much and miss him dearly. We have always been extremely proud of him. Jim never quit and held his head high throughout, serving the community until the end. We sincerely appreciate the support and prayers of Jim’s many loyal friends.
