BrodH20: When The Job Hits Home

Some of the most difficult stories to report, as a mother, are those about a child who has been harmed in some way or has died in an accident. That was my job yesterday. When I’m working on an article, I’m busy enough trying to gather the facts and writing that it doesn’t immediately sink in. It’s later, when I’m driving home or when my own kids come running to me as I pull into the driveway that it hits me. Those are the nights when sleep is tough to come by. I just sit there looking at my beautiful children, remembering how lucky I am to have them.
