CDA Canuck: Thumbs Down On “Pippin”

CDA Canuck: We went to CdA Summer Theater version of Pippin on Wednesday night and left at intermission. The way it is being staged does not fit for CdA. We agreed completely with the critique written earlier in the SR by Jim Kershner.

DFO: My daughter, who knows the star, Steve Booth, enjoyed the play. My wife wanted to walk out. And I was in the middle. It was quirky. Sometimes coarse (occasional language, orgy scene). And it had no memorable music. Coming on the heels of “Chorus Line,” which was coarser, I’d say the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre had one adult-themed play too many this summer. I want to see “Chorus Line” again. But I’ll pass on “Pippin” (although Ellen Travolta was dyne-oh!-mite in the one scene as Pippin’s grandma).
