Inside Huckleberries — 7/28/06
5:18 p.m., Thom George becomes the fourth of five volunteers needed to be guest writers for my Huckleberries print column next week while I’m on vacation. Anyone else?
4:04 p.m., Got another example of Gozzer Ranch insensitivity to local tradition. A Gozzer Ranch suburban was spotted double parked on Sherman Avenue at the old Rogers stand, to let a van full of children out to buy goodies. Femme driver must think she’s still in S.F.
3:12 p.m., Mike Kennedy has volunteered to take a third day as guest commenter next week.
2:30 p.m., Eve Knudtsen, prez of Knudtsen Chevrolet, dropped off a copy of a letter in which 16 business leaders expressed no confidence in NIC prez Michael Burke’s ability to follow through on vocational-technical course expansion. I’ll post a copy of the letter soon. Hard-hitting stuff. A legit complaint. I enjoyed gabbing with Eve about our favorite community.
1:28 p.m., John Austin has volunteered to take a shot at guest writing Huckleberries for one day. I need three more writers.
1:24 p.m., Note from former SR mail carrier Ray Jobes: “Stop the one-day Huckleberries. Many berries on one day taste much betterthan one berry a day.
1:20 p.m., I have many suggestions for guest commenters next week to take my place in Hucklberries print. But only one willing writer so far: Kelly Richards/Concerned Businesses of North Idaho. I could think of a gang of you who would be good at doing this, including: Mari, Bob, CDADave, Marianne, etc. Anyone with a blog to the right could do the job. Any takers.
1:05 p.m., Someone didn’t tell the Blog Gods that we’re approaching the dog days of summer. Strong numbers all week, including 5728 Wednesday and a top mark this summer of 6028 yesterday. However, my 100,000 PV streak for consecutive months is in jeopardy in August when I plan to take two weeks off, first and last ones.
