Hack attack?

Ken Paulman

Anyone who was on the site earlier this morning no doubt noticed the complete absence of news content - not just today’s stories, but the archives as well. It appears that the site was hacked - somebody replaced the fields that normally direct stories to the appropriate location on the site (Idaho, Local, etc.) with a cryptic message: “YGT loves MLT,” which prevented the stories from displaying on the site.

Online publisher Ken Sands said that to his knowledge, this is the first time the site’s ever been hacked, and that we’ll be checking things over to see if there are any other security holes that need to be addressed.

Ryan Pitts and Gina Boysun have been working to restore the news content to the site, and insofar as we can tell, everything’s back to normal. If you spot anything unusual, please drop us a line .

In the process, any blog comments that were posted late last night or this morning have been lost to the mists of time forever.

More on the photo

Angry reader Mike Smith may want to skip this part. Photo editor Larry Reisnouer reported that we’ve sold another 80 copies of the rainbow picture just over the weekend. The photo was also lifted by a gay pride Web site, but was taken down after Reisnouer politely explained the ins and outs of copyright law.
