Dan

I’m collecting author interviews. In the past week I’ve talked to Pamela Aidan and Diane Mapes , and on Monday I’ll be talking to Ivan Doig .

Mapes is a Seattle author, as is Doig. For the moment, Mapes has no plans of visiting Spokane. Doig, however, will appear at Auntie’s Bookstore on July 10 to read from his new novel, “The Whistling Season.”

Aidan, the Coeur d’Alene author of the “Fitzwilliam Darcy” trilogy – a trio of novels, beginning with “An Assembly Such As This,” that tells the Jane Austen’s novel “Pride and Prejudice” from Darcy’s point of view – will be reading at Auntie’s on July 18.

Funny thing about authors: Most of them love, love, to talk. Mapes had me on the phone for more than an hour.

Of course, we spent the first 15 minutes talking about our mutual friend, Leslie Kelly .

And, oh, do we have stories to tell about her …
