You can’t please all the people all the time

The complaints have already started coming in regarding the 2006 Spokesman-Review limerick contest . The first is from reader Jan Abrams, who responded with the following limerick response, which she titled “It’s N.W. History Now!”:

“The winner of the limerick contest
Wrote a verse I thought worst – not at all best!
Yes, the meter had drive,
But the rhyme was contrived!
‘Irresistibly endearing?’ You jest!!”


“I did enjoy the article –“ Abrams added, “just that most all of the other limericks were better than the winner.”
