Steve Smith asked sports editor Joe Palmquist why we ran an Associated Press story on Adam Morrison’s selection as an AP All-American rather than write our own.

Palmquist said there wasn’t much we could do on our own to advance the story. It is the AP’s poll, after all, and all we would be able to do is hunt down players and coaches to get a bunch of [predictable] quotes (Palmquist used a different adjective to highlight his lack of enthusiasm for the type of material we’d be able to get).

“I didn’t think it was that important for Steve Bergum’s name to be on it,” he said.
