The Slice: Bride and groom live happily ever after

Mystery solved.

The beaming bride in that wedding snapshot appearing in Friday’s Slice is Kasey Brockwell, a 1996 Gonzaga Prep grad.

She and husband Brian, who is originally from Wenatchee, live in Seattle. She works for Starbucks while planning to continue her education. He works in auto-sales financing.

Kasey’s mom, South Hill resident Bliss Lanier, said the couple are happy and doing fine.

OK, let the wedding season commence.

“Maybe it’s supposed to say “8-10 weeks”: Ray Tansy was filling out a form for a rebate on a computer printer when he noticed it said he should allow “810 weeks” for delivery.

Boy, 15 years does seem like a long time to wait.

“Fill in the blank: Someone watching you try on clothes in front of mirrors in a store would conclude that the one thing you really care about is how your () looks.

“Special days: “After the birth of our twin nephews in 2003, my brother and I began celebrating Aunt’s Day and Uncle’s Day,” wrote Jamie Fiorino.

Uncle’s Day is March 2 and Aunt’s Day is March 12.

Glen Jones would like to see “Reality Day” on the last Sunday in October. Sincerity from politicians would be the focus.

Deborah Chan would like to see “Meet a Neighbor Day.”

“I don’t mind saying I told you so: Here’s the start of The Slice column that ran on Sept. 18, 2003.

“Something tells me we’ll wind up with a coin that looks more like it’s the Seattle commemorative quarter.”

Oh, well. My favorites elsewhere have been the coins for Maine state and Missouri state. I also like the upcoming North Dakota state quarter featuring bison. How about you?

“E-mer-gen-cy! Everybody to get from street: “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming” first appeared in movie theaters 40 years ago this month.

I wonder how many members of Spokane’s Russian community have seen this uplifting Cold War comedy. And I wonder what they thought of it.

“Give a hoot: Please consume asparagus in a socially responsible way.

“Warm-up questions: How many people around here were born in cars, trains, elevators, et cetera? In your home, how often is the division of domestic chores negotiated? Do you hate with a white-hot intensity any geegaws hung from the rear-view mirror? Who is the Spokane area’s least dependable car-pool participant?

“Today’s Slice question: What workshop does Spokane need to attend?
