Good conversation

There was good conversation this morning around the meeting table. The big discussion was about the Thorburn coverage and some of the chat that is going on at the News is a Conversation blog. Today’s subject was about where we can go with the story and if it is the right time to go there. The search and hiring process seem to be of interest to several at the meeting as does getting some more detail about Thorburn’s relationship with the board.

In other news, Joe Palmquist said sports reporter Jim Meehan spent the better part of 12 hours getting home after the Seahawks game last night. Snow and ice made his trip to the airport slow and then his flight was delayed and eventually canceled. After spending the night in the airport - with several hundred of his closest friends - he finally caught a flight this morning and made his way back to the Inland Empire. Who said covering big league sports was all peaches and cream?

Steve Smith also mentioned that Wednesday’s newspaper is expected to be very large and Sunday’s is expected to be bigger than Thanksgiving’s offering thanks to good ad sales.
