BrodH20: Spud All Grown Up
I remember my stepbrother Spud as the little pudgy guy who could do spot-on impressions of Fire Marshall Bill and Ace Ventura Pet Detective. He was like a little Jim Carrey. Always making everyone laugh. He was also the most sensitive of all the brood and the one who was friends with everyone. After my mom and his dad divorced, I didn’t see Spud for years. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that I saw him for the first time. He had grown taller and stretched out and was getting ready to be married. He’s since completed a 7 1/2 month tour in Iraq and recently finished up four years in the Marine Corps. It’s one thing to read about the war. It’s another thing to hear about it from someone you love who was smack in the middle of the madness. For the rest of the post by Mommy Dearest/BrodH20, click here .
DFO: Four people from my small church, Hayden Bible, are serving in Iraq at this moment, including the son of a very good friend. I also have a favorite niece serving near Kabul in increasingly unsettle Afghanistan. The war has become very real. The inability of the governing authority to gain control of their country has become very frustrating. I wonder: How long, O Lord?
Question: Do you have a friend or loved one currently serving in the Middle East?
