Huckleberries: Jury finds Douglas guilty of big ego
Prosecutor Bill Douglas is nuts not to accept a penalty of life in prison without parole for suspected killer Joseph Duncan in exchange for guilty pleas to murder and kidnapping. So said my Huckleberries Online crowd:
Bree: “It’s not strange, it’s down right stupid. It’s all about ego.”
Marianne: “No trial; no Court TV fame and fortune. No brainer in more ways than one.”
CDADave: “Normally, I would say, ‘Yep, try Duncan, give him the death penalty,’ but aren’t the feds gonna pursue the death penalty anyway? I think this is all about sparing little Shasta from more horrendous experiences.”
Duffer: “If Douglas doesn’t accept the plea deal and insists on the high profile trial, I would suggest he retire from public service as he’ll not get many votes in a re-election.”
Four Dog Mama: “Take the plea and let’s all get on to other things. Spare this community another visit from Geraldo!!!”
Cis: “What the (heck) is wrong with this person? Did someone say brains and he thought they said trains and took one? Douglas, it isn’t about you. … Get with the program. … Stop this insanity. … Shasta has enough on her mind with her dad’s surgery recovery without your grandstanding!!”
CoeurGenX: “So life in prison? Or sentenced to death over a lengthy costly trial? How much would it cost to house (imprison) Duncan for the rest of his life? I say TRIAL, then FIRING SQUAD. No more money for him to write books/get married and other freaky things they do from prison.”
