It’s My 2 Cents — What If It’s True?
As a newsman, I find it hard to think about much else today than the claims made by gay activist
Mike Rogers/blogactive.com that U.S. Sen. Larry Craig is a closet gay. This morning, I asked a close friend who’s in the Evangelical community if it would matter to her if Craig, indeed, was gay. She said, “Yes.” I’m also an Evangelical. But I don’t think it would matter to me if Rogers claims are true. Craig, consistently, has voted Idaho values and been a force for conservatism in high places. There’s nothing in Rogers’ claims that hints that Craig did something illegal. On the other hand, I wonder about the truth of Rogers’ claims. After all, he’s a gay activist who’s dedicated to driving a wedge between the Republicans and the large Evangelical block that supports them. Before yesterday, I’d never heard of Rogers. Yet, Rogers wants us to trust him and his anonymous sources. His claims are interesting blog fodder, for now. However, he needs to provide real proof soon. Or go away.
