Mary Souza: Craig Posts Are Tabloid Trash
Mary Souza: DFO, it’s different to have a blogger here make some comment about this type of gossip, but when you, the newspaper-employed-opinion column-writer, post the lead thread and then continue to spawn related threads, then I think it goes over the line. This topic is all you can think of today? Let’s talk about some real issues that impact all of us in our community. How about the Sander’s Beach petition to go back to the State Supreme Court? How about Proposition 1, for school support that is asking for 2+ million when their base budget is about half that now? How about election compacting, so we can have all our local elections at once?…there are many important conversations, this one about Sen. Craig is tabloid trash.
DFO: I’m glad you’re not an editor, Mary. You might sweep unpleasant news or issues under the rug. I don’t recall ever ignoring a topic because I considered it unpleasant. Indeed, Huckleberries Online is an SR sponsored blog for North Idaho. But it’s also my blog. Editor Steve Smith. Never. Interferes. With it. (Although there are times I seek his advise about postings, as I did this one.) HBO is also a blog that has a regional audience that stretches to Seattle and down to Boise. I keep that in mind when I pick subjects. I posted things other than the Craig story below. But it is the top one, judging by the intense discussion about it in the comments section. Each day plays out differently on this blog. Rarely does a story carry over. I don’t suspect this one will last much longer, unless gay activist Mike Rogers backs up his claims with solid evidence. On the other hand, I post as the muse moves.
