National R’s Spending Big Bucks to Stop — Grant
Full post here
The National Republican Congressional Committee said it had spent more than $100,000 to boost Idaho Republican Bill Sali’s bid for Congress and attack Democrat Larry Grant as of yesterday, and spokesman Jonathan Collegio made it clear the group is poised to spend much more. Today, this popped up on the NRCC’s independent expenditure report to the Federal Election Commission: Another $135,442 for issue ad placement against Grant, paid to Strategic Media Services yesterday. Plus, there was another $10,000-plus over the past two days for phone banks against Grant. The Grant campaign is bracing for an expected flood of attack ads on TV statewide, to the tune of $400,000 worth – all as an independent expenditure from the NRCC, separate from the Sali campaign. If it’s that much, the national push would be nearly equal to Grant’s entire fundraising for the campaign — Betsy Russell /Eye on Boise.
DFO: This seat shouldn’t be in play in a bright Red Republican State. Is this the result of the candidate that the R’s fielded? Or the times? Or both? Do you think there’s a strong “throw-da-bums” out movement that’ll affect elections in Idaho?
