Inside Huckleberries — 10/20/06

*Sheriff Rocky Watson’s announcement in the Coeur d’Alene Press that he’s writing a book about the Joseph Duncan case is attracting big-time heat in the Coeur d’Alene Press Online comments section here .

*The advertising department is calling me a revenuer now … because it has landed another advertiser for this site. Beginning this evening, Stoneridge Golf & Recreational Community/Blanchard will begin rotating with Coeur d’Alene Cellars. Check ‘em out.

*Huckleberries hears … there’s a shake-up at the Coeur d’Alene Press with reporters Marc Stewart and Dave Turner switching beats. Marc goes to cops/courts, Turner to county courthouse. Both are pretty good at what they were doing. Interesting.

* John Marshall e-mailed a link to Family Watchdog that allows you to figure out where the registered sex offenders live in your neighborhood here . I was happy to see that the one who lived 2 blocks away has moved. But a different one has moved a block away.

*Coeur d’Alene attorney Arthur Macomber provides one of the best break downs re: why Proposition 2 is deceptive and would create havoc in Idaho here .

*When she gets back to the office, SReporter Taryn Brodwater has a story that should cause a buzz here at Huckleberries Online (if we can pilfer it before tomorrow morning’s paper).

*An important PSA from Blogmeister Ryan : “I’ve added a new piece to our spam filter that lets users send us a message if they think their comment has been improperly blocked. Now, if you make a post that gets flagged as spam, you’ll see a button to click to send us an error report. These messages go to the webteam inbox, and will send along all the relevant details about the comment — username, comment text, IP address, etc. etc. Hopefully this will help us troubleshoot a little more effectively.”

* Holly Bowen of the North Idaho College Sentinel posted a link to the newspaper’s new, improved Web site last night — here .

*Huckleberries hears that there’s a flap going on in Bonner County between the Daily Bee and Repub commish wannabe Louis Rich . Seems the Bee is ticked that Rich has talked to storekeepers re: ad cards purchased by his write-in opponent, Commish Karl Dye , that are being displayed in Bee newspaper machines. Now, about a dozen of those cards have disappeared. And the Bee wonders if Rich has anything to do with that. Stay tuned.
