Question re: Spokane judge’s reax to candidacy
Issue: Leslie’s filing surprised Tripp: Judge, wife admit losing their composure/Tom Clouse, Spokesman-Review
More Info: Spokane County District Judge Greg Tripp said he lost his temper July 28 when he learned that public defender Jeffrey Leslie filed paperwork to oppose him just minutes before the filing deadline. “I told him he could expect a vigorous campaign,” Tripp said of his comment to Leslie. Tripp’s wife then took it a step further. She told Leslie, according to both men, that his filing for election would cost the Tripps even more than the price of a public college education. “I mean Stanford,” Leslie quoted JoAnn Tripp as saying. The incumbent judge for Position 5 didn’t dispute Leslie’s account and said only that it was a moment of frustration that was not indicative of his temperament.
DFO: I’ve been around long enough to know that judge’s are every bit as thin-skinned as other elected officials. They don’t get caught as much acting out their thin-skinnedness because they’re not in the spotlight that much.
Question: Do you think most judge’s have a sense of entitlement to their jobs?
