Nailing down the details
Reporter Jody Lawrence-Turner had expressed some concern about the way she was able to get the name of the Spokane child who survived a car-train crash in eastern Montana. She called the hospital in St. Paul, where the surviving child had been taken, and asked for the conditions of all three of the children. When the person she spoke to came back with just one name, she knew who the survivor was.
“I don’t think that’s a trick,” Steve Smith said. “I think that’s just good reporting.”
There are a lot of unanswered questions in this story, and Turner will be following it closely. Look for an update later today.
