Local non-profit gets grant to help with low-income housing
Community Frameworks, a regional non-profit that helps people making at or below 80 percent of the area’s median income afford homes, recently received $380,000 from NeighborWorks America.
The grant will be used to provide mortgage assistance for homebuyers participating in HomeStarts, Community Frameworks’ self-help homeownership program. HomeStarts helps low-income Spokane-area residents build and purchase their own homes. NeighborWorks funds will reduce monthly mortgage payments, making the homes more affordable.
HomeStarts will help more than forty low-income Spokane-area working families achieve homeownership in 2007 and 2008.
