Finally, a BIG screen and comfy seats
Just received the following e-mail from Craig Butz, Recreation/Entertainment Division Manager for the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department, regarding Spokane’s IMAX Theatre :
Yes, we’re finally getting rid of the original Expo ’74 theatre seats.
We’ll be putting in 342 padded seats (current capacity is 385) along with cup holders. The project will be completed in time for “Spider-Man 3” in IMAX opening on May 4.
We will be sending out a news release about the chairs soon, but we can certainly get you whatever detail you’d need for a story in advance, just let me know. You can also get a glimpse of the chair style on our Web site .
The color is not accurate but the style is and, the other difference is the location of the cup holders, which are attached to the backs of the chairs and not on the arms because of aisle width requirements.
Haven’t heard news that good since word came that the Magic Lantern Cinemas was going to be reborn sometime this summer (or fall) in a space next to the Community Building, 35 W. Main.
