‘Smokin’ Aces’ smokes the competition
Seems as if director Joe Carnahan ’s attempts to hawk the DVD version of his action film “Smokin’ Aces” have succeeded. Carnahan, whom I interviewed for an April 13 column , took time to talk with critics all over the country in support of his movie, which came out on DVD the following Tuesday.
According to the trade journal HomeMedia , “Smokin’ Aces” both sold and rented extremely well, both in the standard version and in HD.
Not bad for a movie that made barely $35.6 million in a seven-week theatrical run – though merely average for a movie that boasts nearly one death per each of those millions.
