Elvis’ Anniversary Wild Card — 8/16/07

I remember watching Elvis perform in real time on the famous “Ed Sullivan Show” in which cameramen filmed him from the waist up. I remember seeing his movie “Hound Dog Man” while visiting my cousin in Manteca, Calif. However, Presley was the icon of my older sister’s generation than mine. I came of age with the Beatles, Stones and the English invasion. Still Presley overshadowed everything that came after him. And it’s hard to believe that he’s been dead for 30 years. That means I was 27 when he died and just beginning my life in the Great Northwest. I’ve now lived more of my life with Elvis gone than with him here. Yet he’s still missed by his old fans and a legion of fans who weren’t even born when he died. Now that’s true star power. And this is your daily Wild Card …
