The Slice: It’d cost you to pamper the little ones

An S-R classified ad earlier this week caught Dan French’s eye.

Listed under “House Cleaning,” it began: “We’ll Clean any Spokane residents for $60 per house.”

Hmmm, French thought. “Now that might not be a bad deal if one had a large family, but I think I will take care of my personal cleaning needs myself.”

I wonder if they do toddlers.

“Night of the iguana: It was clear that Jennifer Lucke’s 6-year-old son had been watching a TV commercial when he asked, “Mom, what is reptile dysfunction?”

Lucke knew just what to do. “I sent him to ask his father, as women don’t know much about lizards.”

“Seeing double: “We have twin granddaughters,” wrote Mark Cosgrove. “They are graduates of Shadle Park High School, class of 2007 – Breann and Alissa McCoy.

“Breann will attend Western Washington University and Alissa will go to Eastern Washington this fall.”

It turns out that Breann’s roommate at WWU will be a young lady named Kim. As it happens, she is also a twin. And Kim’s sister, Melissa, will be going to EWU.

So now if administrators in Cheney can just put Melissa in the same room as Alissa, there will be perfect symmetry.

“Slice answers: Readers said the outdoor seating areas at O’Doherty’s, C.I. Shenanigans and Dick’s offer the best people-watching.

“Pet peeve: It bugs Jeanette Ide when other motorists hold cigarettes out away from their own cars because they don’t want to befoul their vehicles, and the smoke winds up reaching her nose.

“Boys of summer: When I noted that there are still a lot of Los Angeles Dodgers fans around here, I was thinking of the team’s old relationship with a Spokane-based minor league team. But for Pullman’s Evelyn Allen, loyalty to the Dodgers goes back a bit further.

Now 90, Allen became a Dodgers fan when the team was still in Brooklyn and she lived in nearby New Jersey.

“Coming to a casino near you: A colleague suggested that a Top 10 list of all-time worst rock lyrics might include four songs by Chicago.

I know what you are thinking. Does anybody really care?

“Today’s Slice question: How many people stopped going in the water because of ear issues?
