Shawn Vestal: The Falls
This date is well-remembered, at least by us, for more than just the Pearl Harbor bombing.
It’s also the day we first settled into a desk at the S-R, eight years ago.
The intervening years have been a steady procession of change, from editing local news teams to running the Idaho bureau to covering the region’s colleges. The latest big change – this thing we’ve been calling The Falls – started a couple months ago, as an effort to create a mostly online production with a little piece in the daily paper.
But we’re pulling the plug here to go back to our former job.
The decision was made by the editors here, and we can’t disagree with it, much as we love to disagree with editors. We’ve lost a bunch of good reporters here lately, and the S-R simply needs people to do the basic work: reporting the news.
This has been fun while it lasted. But we’re happy to return to that task.
