The Slice: ‘Near Perfect’ depends on view
Sylvia Passé was visiting family in Australia recently when she saw a billboard that reminded her of Spokane.
It was an advertisement for a housing development outside Perth, and it said “Near the city, near perfect.”
“I had to do a double-take,” said Passé.
So it seems this “near perfect” jazz is all a matter of perspective.

“Great moments in kids blabbing about life on the home front: Lakeside High School teacher Mary McAdam shared a story.
A first-grade girl in the Nine Mile Falls School District reported that her mom apparently got tired of her dad coming home and sitting in front of the TV, watching sports for hours. So the mom in question partially undressed. Then she smeared peanut butter on her bare chest. After that, she added a few chocolate chips.
Then the cookie-flavored mom said something about seeing if her husband might pay attention to her for a change.
The little girl didn’t have many details after that. But, according to McAdam, at least the story went on to get a lot of attention.
