Marketing is stepping up its presence with folks at Fan Fest, selling the paper along with extra copies of Sunday’s special section. Although The S-R is still not selling papers at the Arena, it has informed ushers of where to direct folks looking for copies of the newspaper.
Highlights from today’s newspaper
Deputy city editor Dan Hansen noted how big of a news day we had. “When else would (a story about convicted killer Joseph) Duncan run below the fold?” Hansen asked. Smith noted we had received no feedback yet on the decision to not centerpiece on A1 the State of the Union address.
Smith found no skating on the Food section front “a pleasure.”

The latest report on which retailers are selling tobacco to kids comes out today.
We’re profiling the three candidates for Spokane Valley’s police chief.
And, of course, more ice skating. The S-R beginning tonight at 9:30 will display championship images on the west side of the new Davenport Tower Hotel, 111 S. Post St. Opening ceremonies are today, leading us to believe we should see more activity downtown from visitors. We’re interested in where visiting fans are hanging out. And Hansen quipped, “We’ve noticed no change in Millwood. … Lots of Jo Jos are still available.”
