The Slice: Bugs, skunks probably more realistic

Maybe it’s not true for everyone.

But The Slice suspects some people around here enjoy camping more when there is at least a theoretical possibility of encountering a grizzly bear or mountain lion.

Of course, the key word here is “theoretical.”

“It’s not an actual rule or anything: But putting more than a dozen toppings and condiments on a burger is just asking for a breakdown of structural integrity.

“If you are going to the Alison Krauss concert tonight: Try to resist the urge to sing along. The people seated near you didn’t buy tickets to listen to your vocal stylings.

“Just wondering: In your household, what role does gender play in apportioning closet space?

“Nobody asked me: But Comcast’s latest “upgrade” of on-screen info grids and DVR interactivity feels like a step backward. For one thing, it seems to me that fast-forwarding used to be easier.

But hey, it’s tough all over.

“How to stay poor: Wear a lot of silk Hawaiian shirts and have them all dry-cleaned.

“Speaking of garments named for states: What would an Idahoan shirt look like?

“The thing about Spokane is…: Jessica Biel doesn’t come here every summer to film a movie — just last year.

“You might not have known: Local theater fixture Tim Behrens is the son of the late character actress Amzie Strickland. Among her many, many credits was a role in the classic episode of “The Twilight Zone” titled “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.”

She passed away in Spokane a couple of years ago.

The list of shows in which she appeared is astonishing. According to The Internet Movie Database, it includes “I Love Lucy,” “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet,” “Dragnet,” “Leave It to Beaver,” “Rawhide,” “Perry Mason,” “Bonanza,” “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” “The Big Valley,” “Wagon Train,” “The Mod Squad,” “Mission Impossible,” “Happy Days,” “The Waltons,” “Roseanne,” “Mad About You,” “Murphy Brown,” “Matlock,” “7th Heaven,” and on and on and on.

“Songs ice cream trucks ought to play instead of “Turkey in the Straw” and “The Entertainer”: “Cold as Ice,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-out,” “Cold Shot,” “Money (That’s What I Want),” “Walk – Don’t Run,” “Come and Get It,” “Heat Wave,” “Perfidia,” “Steppin’ Out.”

“Today’s Slice question: What do couples do about socializing when he doesn’t really like her friends and she isn’t all that wild about his?
