TGIF: WASL and more
Friday’s paper took a whole different direction after the Thursday afternoon meeting, with the cover barely resembling the one that was originally discussed.
Leading the way was Nick Eaton’s story about a Spokane paramedic who is facing allegations of stealing drugs.
The Senate immigration bill was also a late addition to A1, but the centerpiece package of two stories by staff writer Sara Leaming - this story and this one - on the WASL remained in tact. The state results come out today and the highlights are already posted on the our Web site. We’ll have a story in Saturday’s paper, but detailed results apparently won’t be released until August.
There were lots of compelling local stories. Among the highlights mentioned at the meeting were: the Good Samaritan story out of the Moscow shooting; the Qwest utility tax stoy; a strong business section; and 7’s cover story about the Monroe Street Pub Crawl.
All in all, a busy paper heading into the weekend.
