Let’s call it the evening briefing

Addy Hatch

Day 5 of Joe Barrentine’s absence, and the Daily Briefing is moving later and later in the day. We’re eagerly awaiting Joe’s return…

Sunday’s paper was strong all the way around. The Empire Health story provided plenty of context to frame the issue of executive compensation, especially as it relates to a turnaround situation. Taryn Brodwater had two days to do the story of the woman who was held hostage 20 years ago and even in that short time turned a moving read. Local offerings on the front page were rounded out by coverage of high school teams in the GSL ; all thought it was appropriate play and coverage.

Speaking of GSL, the Sports desk did yeoman’s duty Saturday night, swapping out a picture at 11:30 p.m. so we could get a shot of the Ferris boys’ team with their trophy.

Coming tomorrow, we’ll have more bball (Gonzaga women). The beauty of waiting until 3:30 p.m. to file the Daily Briefing is that you’ll be reading that story before you know it (and can already read a version online).
