Basketball; lots of basketball
First, curses to Joe Barrentine . He was here for one day before decamping to NCAA action downtown. To Joe I say: I’ll get you, and your little dog too.
Kudos, however, to the copy desk, which pulled off the dreaded triple swap on A1 last night as well as swapped out B1 leads between Metro and Valley editions. Busy night for those folks.
Said Senior Editor Carla Savalli: ” Doug (Clark) had a nice strong column (on the death by abuse of Summer Lytle). I so love it when he gets unhappy.”
Sports outdid themselves, with all kinds of basketball advances as well as the prep page, a great notebook bright by Jeff Bunch on a guy who wants $1 million for his NCAA tickets in Spokane, a profile of the GU women’s coach that was thisclose to landing on A1…. the list goes on.
Finally, Features Editor Ken Paulman said there was an unfortunate mistake — actually, he called it a disaster — on the New York Times crossword puzzle today. A handful of clues were printed in a weird, smashed-together Courier font. Those clues, although not the entire puzzle, will be reprinted in tomorrow’s paper.
Up tomorrow - we’ll likely have a basketball story. We’re also running a follow on Summer Lytle’s death.
