‘Home of the Brave’ better than its reviews

Dan

I went to the opening showing of “Home of the Brave” and ended up liking it. The movie has problems, mostly production flaws caused likely by its low budget, but it does capture the pained lives of returning veterans.

The issues the film brings up apply to veterans of any war but especially the conflicts of my father’s lifetime, from World War II (when he was in the Navy) to Vietnam (when I was in the Army) to today’s mess in Iraq.

Regardless of your stand on the war, it’s a film that everyone should see.

Oh, and Spokane, where it was filmed, looks pretty good, too.
