I don’t know all the facts, but it seems to me that there’s no rhyme, reason, nor credible rationale for removing so much potential and truly professional coverage of our area in one fell swoop. My heart goes out to all the fine professionals who’ve suffered the blow of this executive decision. We will miss your bylines, your excellent reporting and one hell of a lot of news. It seems to me that sometimes the bottom line should be cast aside in favor of a service so essential to our American way of life—-especially when we see that the resources for maintaining the newspaper could be gleaned from all the other vast business interests of the people who supply the ink. I believe it is their duty to ensure continued stability of one of the staples we rely on to function and to make decisions every single day of our lives.
