WSU women lose to Portland
It wasn’t pretty. But in their 70-40 loss to Portland, the WSU women improved their play over exhibition games, coach June Daugherty said.
She was most concerned about her team’s rebounds: The Cougars had 32, the Pilots had 48. Both teams struggled with turnovers. WSU tallied 22 — a generous estimate — and Portland made 20.
Fans started filing into Beasley Coliseum in the last few minutes of the women’s game to watch the 10th-ranked Cougar men, who tipped off just now — at 6:36 p.m.
