Bed and Breakfast closed

The Fotheringham House, a historic bed and breakfast in Browne’s Addition, has become a private residence.

The Victorian structure, built in 1891, housed a bed and breakfast for nearly a quarter-century, according to previous owners.

Last year, The Wall Street Journal wrote an article detailing the challenges of operating bed and breakfast establishments, which are fighting rising expenses and low occupancy.

The historic properties were being increasingly sold because the value of the real estate was at a premium, and many buyers were opting not to operate businesses at the sites.
