Raymond Pert: Words Of Advice For Kendra
I hope she sticks with three things she talks about:
1. Church for spiritual sustenance and a positive social life.
2. Pursuit of a college degree, which can have the benefits of church, but it a secular setting: spiritual susentance, positive social life, and intellectual nourishment.
3. Take things a day at a time. These have been heady days for Kendra. She’s been through a lot, mostly for the better. In time, the high tide of publicity and the crest of elation brought on by being released from jail and reunited with her baby and husband will subside into the mundane rhythms of work, taking care of a child, and maintaining a household and a marriage. It’s in these mundane times that the “one day at a time” approach to recovery is the most meaningful. Things can get tedious once back into the routines of everyday grinding it out. One day at a time. Living day to day with a degree of tedium is far better than whatever fake boost drugs might give, I think.
