AM Hucks: YouTube Fames Goes To Her Head

You knew that Councilwoman Dixie Reid wouldn’t ignore that YouTube slam forever – the one produced by council wannabe Dan Gookin this year. Reid and Councilman Mike Kennedy are edited during a council meeting to appear stern and/or unapproachable to the public. They were YouTubed after Reid lectured Gookin and fellow activist Larry Spencer for not paying attention in the audience during a youth drug presentation. On Tuesday, Reid attacked again. Seems she was fed up that the two gadflies hadn’t sat through a meeting on an important neighborhood planning issue. Earlier Tuesday night, Gookin, Spencer and other foes of CdA’s urban renewal district listened while Post Falls activist Tom Macy challenged CdA’s right to open the budget to include expenditures that were expected but not appropriated for the new library, Kroc Center, public safety and other large-ticket items. Macy, who along with Kathy Sims tried unsuccessfully to get Prosecutor Bill Douglas to investigate the complaint, used phrases like “completely ignorant,” “incompetence” and “criminal contempt” while beating this dead horse. Then, the council approved the bookkeeping maneuver on a 6-0 vote. Later, Reid thanked residents who’d stayed until 11 for the planning hearing in the ‘hood, including council wannabe John Bruning. Angry, Reid noted that Gookin and wannabes Susie Snedaker and Jerry Weaver hadn’t. She named them by name. Also, she ignored Councilman Ron Edinger’s friendly counsel to be cautious, stating she wasn’t seeking re-election. Then, she opined that Gookin & Co. were more interested in politics than key city issues. She ended by saying she’s going to enjoy the fall campaign. Stay tuned.
