Sustainability “prophet” speaking tomorrow

Parker

Architect William McDonough speaks Wednesday evening
An architect called the “prophet of the sustainability and clean-technology movements” in next month’s Vanity Fair will speak tomorrow evening in Spokane about his work.

William McDonough will be the designer for the planned Mobius Science Center , and his speech marks an event to celebrate that about one-quarter of the center’s $35 million price tag has been raised.

Nonprofit civic organization Mobius says it has garnered about $9 million from local donations and state government toward the 53,000-square-foot center, which would be built on the north bank of the Spokane River between Washington and Howard streets. Mobius expects to break ground next year, assuming it raises enough money, said Mobius board member Chris Majer.
