TUBOB: Back-To-School Shopping

So I learned a very important lesson about peer pressure and youth culture that I’d somehow forgotten despite my horrid mid 70’s foray into silk flowered dress shirts and rockstar platform shoes, which made a skinny gangly six foot three me into a skinny gangly six five scarecrow boy, and the lesson is quite simply to never purchase much in the way of school clothes before school starts as you may miss the power of peer pressure and group conformity. It’s cool to buy only a couple of things so your kids don’t think you’re a cruel unfeeling bastard (or bitch) who is making them miss the heady and exciting world of back to school summer shopping and so they can wear at least something without mustard stains and torn pockets the first day back. But wait until they see what the cool kids are wearing and then take em out clothes shopping/ TUBOB . More here .

Question: Do you have any hints to help parents who are about to go school shopping?
