Chiefs trade Coyle to Medicine Hat; Rutherford signs with Checkers
The Spokane Chiefs traded defenseman Jace Coyle to the Medicine Hat Tigers for a fifth round selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam draft and third round selection in 2010.
“It is real tough moving a player of Jace’s caliber but at the same time we have the potential to return all eight defenseman next year as well as young list players who are ready to compete for a defensive spot,” Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz said in a release.
The 18-year-old appeared in 52 games as a rookie last year with one goal, nine points and was plus-8.
