Nettleton Gulch Standoff Ends Peacefully
Colby D. Vodder, 18, of Coeur d’Alene has been
identified as the individual involved in the approximate three-hour standoff with local authorities. Vodder was taken into custody peacefully at about 3:45 p.m. after pointing a .25-caliber handgun at his chest while negotiating with police officers, according to Sgt. Christie Wood of the Coeur d’Alene Police Department. He was taken into custody on a felony probation violation that stems from the time he was a juvenile. Last week, Vodder was charged with possession of a controlled substance (allegedly 5 ounces of marijuana). At the time, according to Sgt. Wood, he possessed a handgun with the serial number filed off. When authorities tried to arrest Vodder at about 1 p.m. today, he run from a house on the 1500 block of Gilbert for a block and a half, before turning around toward pursuing officers, and pointing the gun at himself. He never pointed the gun at anyone else.
